ABOUT US :
Bishnu Samantaray College is Located at a distance of 9 km. from Chandikhole Chhak and 50 Kms from Cuttack.
It is very nearer to the Buddhist site of Lalitgiri and Ratnagiri against the backdrop of panoramic, sylvan Birupa just about a kilometer away from Nuahat .
Eminent persons from various walks of life who have made significant contributions towards the advancement of Odisha have hailed
from and around this area and nourished and patronised this college from its fledgling state till it attained a healthy adulthood.
The long felt need for establishing a college catering to the demands of the people of a vast area of the Barachana P.S was fulfilled in 1980.
A College committee comprising active, enthusiastic persons of status in the locality entrusted with the task of raising funds and meeting other
requisite needs for starting a college was formed in the same year headed by Siromani Bishnu Charan Samantray
The committee succeeded in its tireless efforts in opening the intermediate Arts faculty of B.S College,
Nuahat, affiliated to the Utkal University with effect from 1982. In this connection, special mention may be made of
the magnificant donations made by Bishnu Charan Samantray and headed by Sri Kamini Pattnaik an educationalist.
Finally the local enthusiasts helped in materializing the aspirations of the people of Birupa-Gengult delta
for establishing an institution of higher learning. In1980 the College ran with a limited accommodation of intermediate classes in Arts .
The first year degree classes at the B.A. stages were started in 1989. The second and the third year Degree Classes were opened within the years
that followed. In the year 1992 the first batch of Graduates came out of the College. +2 Science Stream was opened in the year 1998.
It imparts teachings in Physics, Chemistry , Mathematics and Biology. As the college is located in business area, +2 Commerce was opened in
the year 1998 . The college has been included in 2(f) and 12(B) by the U.G.C .
Now the College is on growing stage with all Honours facilities in humanities

This Institution has well-furnished rooms, Toilets for the staff & Students. There is well-planned water supply system. The college is surrounded by green forestation which creates a peaceful & beautiful environment conducive for study. College provides good, well-equipped sophisticated library & Laboratory for the students.
